ALBANIA
Albania was part of the Ottoman Empire till 28 November 1912  when General Ferreo, in command of Italian troops declared Albania an independent country. Italian forces occupied the country from 1914 to 1920. 

Albanian became a republic in 1925. 

In 1928 the country became a monarchy under King Zog I. 

In March of 1939 Italy invaded Albania. 

Germany occupied Albania from September 1943 until late 1944.

At the end of World War 2 it  became an independent state headed by Enver Hoxha. 

The People's Socialist Republic was instituted in 1976 and was renamed Republic of Albania in 1991. 

Albanian postage stamps have been issued since 1913.

The Ottoman and Near East Philatelic Society (USA)
Purpose of the Society is to promote the collection and study of the postage stamps, postal stationery, revenue stamps, an postal history of the Ottoman Empire, the Republic of Turkey, and the Ottoman successor states.
